Attaching To Thought Forms

Just like physical forms the thoughts that move through the mind have forms. Over time we can be attached to those forms as if its apart of our identity.

The real question is - Are those thoughts really you? Are they who you want to be? Where did those thoughts come from? Are they thoughts that are helping you to grow or limit you and keep you small?

Lets jump into a story. Say you are enjoying an afternoon with some friends in the park. It's a beautiful sunny day, bright blue skies, and your sitting in the grass surrounded around those you care about. You are drinking tea and all of a sudden thoughts start rushing into your head - "Have I payed rent this month?" "Why isn't anyone paying attention to me?" "I should really call my parents" "I should be talking right now so I can be apart of the group!" The spiral continues, thought after thought - it essentially becomes an addiction to thoughts. While that whole time you've been having this internal conversation, you missed the opportunity of sharing time with your friends during the beautiful day at the park!

We have all been there, and there is a way to to interrupt the cycle. By hopping into feeling.

Step one: Become aware of the thoughts. "Holy shit I am thinking a lot - lets pause that - Why am I thinking so much?" Observing the thoughts as if they are a tree or a flower.

Step two: How is your body feeling? Are you tense, tired, stressed? Or are you relaxed open and energized? If there is a sense of tense, tired, and stressed it may be time to stretch, go for a run, take a nap, recharge your personal batteries.

Step three: Put your hands on your body! Intentionally feel with for hands what your body feels like. Do that for 15min to an hour. Put on some music light a candle - set the stage for you to take care of yourself.

Thoughts from the mind can have a very buzzy sensation - almost like a fuzz. Once all of that attention is directed into the body the fuzz goes away and you are able to clearly think and see.

Be aware of the thoughts! They are not who you are and sometimes it's ok to let go of the forms that no longer serve you!
